Thankfully, a reader recently emailed me to remind us that the original instructions are no longer valid in the most recent versions of Apple Mail. My original tip showed how to configure the Apple Mail app to prevent these auto-saved draft messages from being created in your Gmail account, but the Mail interface has changed quite a bit since then.
